Jing Qian had never liked any young girl.

So, at this time, he didn’t realise that his fondness for Xiang Em was snowballing like a snowball, becoming bigger and bigger.

Just as he was about to catch hold of something in his head, Xiang Yi Mo suddenly spoke and disrupted him, “Mr Jing, there are brand new toiletries in the bathroom of the other bedroom next door, be my guest.”

After saying that, she got up, got out of bed and headed for the bathroom.

Just as the little girl was about to brush past him, Jing Qian suddenly took her soft little hand, “Mo Mo, even in the past, you called me ‘Elder Brother’, didn’t you?”

He paused and took the initiative to step back as if he was afraid she would be embarrassed again, “If you don’t want to call me Elder Brother, it’s okay to call me by my name.”

Xiang Yi Mo silently met his gaze and was almost drawn in by his deep, dark eyes. She turned her head away and said, “I understand. Let go of me. Jing Qian, I want to wash up.”

Jing Qian took a good look and saw that her ears were flushed, and the corners of her mouth were slightly raised before the discomfort in his heart dissipated a little.

He let go of her hand. The smooth, delicate touch still lingered on his fingertips, causing him to squeeze his fingers and rub them twice.

Only after Xiang Yi Mo had fled into the bathroom and shut the door like a wary little animal did he lose sight of her.

Jing Qian let out a low chuckle before going to the bathroom next to hers to wash up.

Breakfast was prepared by Jing Qian.

When Xiang Yi Mo came downstairs after she was done, she caught a glimpse of Jing Qian carrying a bowl of rice noodles and setting it on the table. He raised his eyes and saw her coming. “You’re done? Come and have your breakfast.”

Xiang Yi Mo walked to her seat and sat down. She looked incredulously at the bowl of noodles in front of her, which looked particularly good.

Using chopsticks in one hand and a spoon in the other, she took the noodles and soup together into her mouth.

“Delicious! I didn’t know you could cook?”

“Mm, I did all the cooking myself while studying abroad since I wasn’t used to the food in foreign restaurants.”

“Oh, I see….” Xiang Yi Mo mumbled. Her voice trailed off, and she finished breakfast without speaking a word for a while.

The two cleaned up the kitchen and dining room together before Jing Qian had to leave for work at the hospital.

He thought for a moment and said to Xiang Yi Mo, “Last night, I saw the critical illness notice on the dining table. Mo Mo, I will have the best local and foreign experts come to check on your condition.”

Xiang Yi Mo’s face suddenly blanched, her pupils slightly dilated as she glared at him, “Jing Qian!”

Her small mouth heavily enunciated the man’s name. It was as if she was like a little rabbit whose tail had been stepped on by something, jumping anxiously, trying with all her might to cover up the secret she didn’t want anyone to know.

She exhaled a deep breath and then plastered a forced smile. “That is fake. I was faking it. I’m not sick. I don’t need any specialists. I’m in good health, and I know it. Please don’t go around saying random things!”

“Mo Mo…” Jing Qian wrinkled his brow.

“Get out! It’s time for you to go to work. Get lost!” Xiang Yi Mo acted as if she was exasperated.

Then, without a word, she drove Jing Qian away.

Jing Qian stood outside the door. His gaze fixed on the door that had forcefully snapped shut and wasn’t allowed to enter.

He stood there for a few seconds, seeing that it was already seven o’clock and he had to be at work at half-past seven to check on his room. So he had to leave the place for a while.

He thought, ‘Let’s find some time later to discuss with Mo Mo.’

As he drove away, the man looked deeply at the villa as if he could penetrate the walls to look at the person he wished to see.

On this day, Jing Qian was only completely focused on his work and free from distractions during the two surgeries.

However, when he was somewhat free at other times, the man’s mind was filled with thoughts about Xiang Yi Mo. Although Xiang Yi Mo was reluctant to talk about her condition, he guessed it was because she felt there was no cure for it and wanted to hide it.

Jing Qian would help her hide it.

But he couldn’t just sit around and resign to his fate like this after knowing of this matter. There had to be something he could do.

Jing Qian couldn’t imagine and couldn’t accept that Xiang Yi Mo was lying silent in bed, just quietly meeting death.

He used all his contacts to find out, even if… there was only a glimmer of hope.

At night, Jing Qian returned home and lay in bed. He tossed and turned for some time, and sure enough, he still could not sleep.

He reached for the medicine bottle on the bed and stared at it.

So it was because of Mo Mo that he hadn’t lost any sleep last night at Mo Mo’s without his medication?

Suddenly, his head was filled with Xiang Yi Mo again.

But now, it wasn’t because of her condition. He was simply thinking about her.

He thought about her petite face, her voice, her fragrance…

As he thought about this, his mind uncontrollably suddenly remembered that he had lusted after Xiang Yi Mo in the morning.

Jing Qian thought that he had never been a man of desire.

In the past twenty years or so, he had lived a very restrained life. However, that morning, he had been tantalised by the sleeping young girl.

With his background, there was no shortage of women who were attracted to him. What pretty ones had he not seen?

But even his family said that he was as frosty as a saint.

His heart never fluttered, and he never lusted for something. If he hadn’t become a doctor, they would have thought he was on the verge of converting to Buddhism.

Apart from his family and friends, it was as if medical work was the only thing left in his world. So what kind of place does Xiang Yi Mo have in his heart?

There was a moment of silence to ponder this question.
