Chapter 490: Theft of Research Results (2)
However, the way everyone looked at Jian Yiling was not sympathetic at all.
If someone really stole other people’s research results, then such a punishment was well deserved. It didn’t deserve any sympathy at all.
“I didn’t steal anything. If you want to accuse me of stealing, then you need to produce evidence. Please verify these things before you accuse me,” Jian Yiling said to Professor Huang with a calm voice.
Any experimental research that was done by Jian Yiling was well documented.
If she was suspected of stealing someone else’s work, then she was willing to challenge this accusation. Further investigation could be done to prove her innocence.
“Oh, so you’re going to be stubborn until the end huh?!” Professor Huang shouted. He threw a thick pile of research reports onto Jian Yiling’s desk.
“Lu Yuan submitted these the day before yesterday! The results and theories mentioned in your paper are exactly the same as hers!”
“Early submissions mean nothing,” Jian Yiling replied.
After flipping through a few pages, Jian Yiling knew that Lu Yuan had stolen the results that she had placed on her desk.
Professor Huang continued to reprimand her with a stern voice: “Well, I feel like I’ve seen something new today in my teaching career! This is the first time that I’ve encountered such an outrageous student! What did you even learn in the years that you’ve been studying abroad? Did you learn to become shameless?!”
When faced with Lu Yuan, the student that he had been teaching for two years, and Jian Yiling, the student who had joined his class less than a week ago, Professor Huang was undoubtedly biased towards his trusted student.
Especially since Jian Yiling had spent very little time in the laboratory in the past week. She had given him and the other students in the lab the impression that she wasn’t really serious about her work.
Lu Yuan, who was seated next to Jian Yiling, was shocked. She hung her head sheepishly and did not dare to look at Professor Huang and Jian Yiling.
Instead of retorting, Jian Yiling took out her mobile phone. She found a number in her contacts list and was about to dial it.
However, Professor Huang wasn’t done: “What are you doing? Why are you playing with your phone? Do you think that I don’t exist? I want you to answer my questions right now!”
Professor Huang felt that he was being humiliated.
At such a serious time, Jian Yiling was still unrepentant. Instead, she was focused on her phone?!
What kind of student was this?!
She didn’t even deserve to be a student at Beijing University!
“You won’t listen to explanations. Actions will be more efficient.”
Jian Yiling calmly replied to Professor Huang as her phone call got answered.
“Actions? Yeah, I will definitely take action against you today!” Professor Huang raged. “Watch her! Don’t let her move around. I will notify the chancellor and staff at our school about this! This matter must be settled today!”
The person on the other end of the phone hadn’t heard Jian Yiling’s voice. However, they heard Professor Huang shouting at the top of his lungs.
And thus, the person on the other side of the phone didn’t say anything either. Instead, they started to type away at their keyboard.
###
A short while later, a lot of people entered their laboratory.
The school’s security guards, the chancellor, other staff members, and other professors were all there.
A fire was burning through Professor Huang’s head.
He had brought everyone here to rip off Jian Yiling’s shameless facade! He wanted her to get the hell out of academia forever!
Zhai Yunsheng was also there.
The chancellor of the school had called the ’emergency contact’ on Jian Yiling’s school record. The person who answered the phone was Zhai Yunsheng.
When Zhai Yunsheng arrived, his eyes swept over the people in the room.
