A+ A- Eye On

chapter 114

The studio’s original plan was to have an early celebratory banquet today. They had even planned on working on getting onto some major ranking lists and some musical award events that would be taking place at the end of the year.

Low and behold, before their popularity had even worn off online, another incident had blown up.

Just this afternoon, someone claiming to be an employee of Shengding Entertainment posted a video online.

The video was the filming of a girls’ group working on a song.

Many companies would release previews of rehearsals before they pushed out new girls’ group. That in and of itself was not unusual.

The problem was, the song under production in the video was strikingly similar to “Past” that was just released by Yu LeLe that very morning. A few parts during the chorus portion were almost identical.

That “employee” also subtly but concisely said that “It was so sad to see that all the girls’ hard work over the last month was being destroyed like this. We were just a step too late.”

That subtext was that the song belonged to their girls’ group, but Yu LeLe’s Studio plagiarized them and beat them in releasing it online.

The release of the video immediately caused an explosion online.

With the exception of a few malicious slandering incidents, Ye LeLe and her studio did not have a lot of dirt and have a pretty decent reputation in the entertainment circle. As such, many of the netizens were more than willing to believe in them.

Besides, as similar as the song released by Shengding was similar to Yu LeLe’s, when one really listened to the entire song, one would be able to tell that it did not measure up to Yu LeLe’s remotely.

Nevertheless, Shengding Entertainment was the one who claimed that it was plagiarism!

Who was Shengding Entertainment? They were one of the top players in the entertainment circle. Nobody would believe that a company like them would need to slander another company by falsely accusing them of plagiarizing a song.

And, it had been almost three hours since the release of the video and nobody from Shengding clarified that the video was not from an employee of theirs.

Their not denying that it was them was an admission that it was!

Besides, the creation of the video was prior to the release of Yu LeLe’s Studio’s official announcement as well.

All of a sudden, there were all sorts of speculations on the web.

“This is the song,” said Xu Xiao as he played the music video from Shengding’s girls’ group.

“Hrm! Are these people who said we have plagiarized them all deaf? This song does not remotely measure up to LeLe’s, not to mention the several awkward parts in the middle of the song.” Xu Xiao grumbled as he read through some of the discussions on the web.

And he was right.

That song was one of the ten songs that Su Ran had provided Shengding with a one-minute sample. They had turned her down because they could not agree on an amount, and Su Ran never worked with them on it.

Su Ran had further made some adjustments to better match Yu LeLe’s style before she submitted it to Yu LeLe’s Studio.

Back in the days, Su Ran had lots of experience selling her music. She was confident in submitting samples and not worried about them stealing from her because she had made special arrangements when she created her sample.

It would not affect others’ ability to review and judge the song, but it would be impossible for them to expand her sample into a 4-minute piece.

She hadn’t expected that those at Shengding Entertainment had really hired someone to expand her sample.

She must say, the person who dared to accept this project was bold, but also quite smart.

Su Han had embedded a few break-off points and this person was able to find some similar music to fill in. As Xu Xiao had said, it sounded “off”, but it was pieced together nonetheless.

And the creator of it straight up replaced another big portion of it with female rapping.

Piecing everything together, it was long enough to be a song’s length.
