In regards to Fors-san’s story…… I mean, there are parts that amaze me at her lack of sense of direction, and I can really understand why Laguna-san felt like telling Fors-san not to go out.
[……Well, in short, you want to go to Hydra Kingdom, right?]
[Yeah, that’s right. The Founding Festival is still a few days away, but since Laguna’s pulling a shut-in like me out of my home, she’ll probably let me stay at the castle for a few days or provide accommodations. As long as I manage to reach Hydra Kingdom’s Royal Capital, I should be able to handle the rest.]
[This is just an innocent question, but can’t Fors-san use Teleportation Magic?]
Fors-san is one of the most outstanding magic-users in the Human Realm, holding the title “Sage of the Forest”. That being the case, I think it wouldn’t be surprising if she’s capable of using Teleportation Magic…… but well, Teleportation Magic is more like something one could excel at while others struggle at, so the possibility of her not being able to use it is also quite high.
I mean, considering how she’s trying to go towards a Teleportation Gate, it’s likely that she can’t use it……
[Unnn? Yeah, I can use it without any problems.]
[…………Hmmm.]
[Oya? Why do you look like you just bit on a bitter bug?]
That’s strange. The answer she’s responding with here shouldn’t have been a “YES”…… After all, if that’s the case, all this conversation would end if she just used Teleportation Magic to go to Hydra Kingdom, right?
I’m thinking under the premise that Fors-san can’t use Teleportation Magic, which allows for the lengthy process of her getting lost or wandering for an extended period of time to make sense…… After all, if she’s able to use Teleportation Magic, she could have just gone to the conclusion “Well, if I’m lost, I will just teleport”.
[……Why is it that you still get lost when you can use Teleportation Magic?]
[Ahh, no, I suppose I hadn’t provided enough explanation. I am indeed capable of using Teleportation Magic, but I’m not skilled in using it. Ahh, in this case, when I say “not skilled”, I don’t mean I lack the aptitude for using it…… I’m extremely susceptible to Teleportation sickness, you see. If I use Teleportation Magic to move, I almost always end up getting so sick that everything from my stomach comes out. I assume you’re aware that the teleportation means between Teleportation Magic and Teleportation Gates differ, but I don’t get sick using Teleportation Gates. While I haven’t thoroughly investigated the details, I do believe that the difference in methods is a factor causing the sickness or preventing me from having one…… Honestly, even though I’m capable of doing so, I’m not very keen on experimenting and verifying this. Teleportation sickness is truly that severe for me…… I won’t just be vomiting; the discomfort persists for a while, and I become dizzy to the point that my head feels disoriented.]
[Ahh, so that’s how it was.]
The option of using Teleportation Magic when she gets lost does come to her mind, but from what I can hear from her, it seems like she finds even the thought of considering it unpleasant, so Teleportation Magic really must lead to severe motion sickness for her.
[Ahh~~ But if that’s the case, then I suppose it’s not possible for me to use my Teleportation Magic Tool to bring you to Hydra Kingdom either.]
[Indeed. I’d like it if you excuse me from that. I don’t know which locations you registered with your Teleportation Magic Tool, but I’m not about to throw away my public decency for it. I’d prefer not to attract undue attention in public places, drawing pity-filled gazes on me.]
[You can handle Teleportation Gates, right?]
[Yeah, I don’t have a problem with those. I’m digressing here, but there are some who refer to those as “Teleportation Gates” and others who call them “Teleportation Portals”. There are also those who use the terms interchangeably depending on their mood. I wonder what caused this difference in naming? It would be interesting to research this, including whether there are regional variations on its naming. There’s also a possibility of discovering a third alternative name apart from those two.]
(Note: I didn’t notice it myself, but Fors was talking about some people calling the gate “Teni-mon”, “mon” meaning gate, and other people calling it “Teni-geito”. Incidentally, Kaito and Fors call it “Teni-geito”.)
Using a Teleportation Gate would indeed be the best option to bring Fors-san, who struggles with Teleportation Magic, to Hydra. As for the portal-type magic tool at my house? Hmmm, I’m not sure if it could work for her…… I don’t experience Teleportation sickness myself, so I wouldn’t be able to differentiate between regular Teleportation Magic and Teleportation Gates based on what I personally feel.
She’d end up looking really pitiful if it didn’t work, so I suppose it would be better to play it safe and go to the city’s Teleportation Gate here.
[Then, when we finish our drinks, I’ll guide you to the Teleportation Gate.]
[Ahh, no, I’d feel really apologetic making you go through all that. Just providing me with directions would be sufficient. Even though you may forget about it, I am the Elves’ Head. I do come to Symphonia’s Royal Capital for events like Founding Festival, so I believe I have a decent grasp of the route.]
[I see…… Well then, let’s go there together after we finish our drinks.]
[……That’s strange? Even though I told you such a thing, why is it that you responded that way? Did you not hear what I said, or perhaps you didn’t catch what I meant…… Guess I’ll say it again. I don’t want to inconvenience you, so if you could just tell me the location————]
[After we finish our drinks! We will be going!!! Together!!!]
[————Ah, yes.]
I might not know Fors-san very well, but there’s one thing I can say with confidence. If I just do as she said and tell her directions, she will definitely get lost……
